Terms of Service
Billing terms for paid calls on GoCall.
GoCall fee
10% of the final billed amount, capped at the per-call maximum in the host's settlement currency (US$25 or C$25), per completed call.
Stripe fees
Deducted directly from the guest's charge on the host's Stripe account; not collected by GoCall.
Temporary holds
Guests may see an authorization hold before the final billed-time charge settles.
1. Service Description
GoCall provides paid 1:1 call links for experts who already get asked for their time. Hosts charge by the hour or set a fixed price per call, share one guest link, control billing live, and receive automatic settlement after calls end.
By using GoCall, you agree to these terms. If you use GoCall as a host, you also agree that you are responsible for the services you provide to guests through your calls.
2. Platform Fee
GoCall charges a 10% platform fee on the final billed amount, capped at the per-call maximum in the host's settlement currency (US$25 or C$25), per completed call. The guest's card is charged directly by the host's Stripe account; GoCall's fee is routed to GoCall as an application fee on that charge and does not appear as a separate line item to the guest.
3. Host As Merchant Of Record
The host is the merchant of record for every paid call on GoCall. The guest's card is charged by the host's Stripe account, the statement descriptor is the host's business, and Stripe's processing fees are deducted from the host's settlement balance. Hosts are responsible for sales-tax, VAT, and consumer-protection compliance on the services they provide through GoCall. GoCall is a software platform and is not a party to the underlying service agreement between host and guest.
4. Authorization Holds and Billing
For hourly calls, when billing starts the guest may see a temporary authorization hold on their card. This hold is sized based on the expected call duration and hourly rate, plus a buffer. The final charge is based on actual billed time and may be less than the authorization hold. If the final charge exceeds the authorization hold, a separate charge is created for the difference.
For fixed-price calls, the authorization hold matches the call price. When the host taps Start, the hold is captured in full. If the host never starts, the hold is released and no charge is made.
Hourly calls that bill less than $5 of total time are not charged; the authorization hold is released instead. The hold typically clears with the issuing bank within a few business days.
5. Disputes and Refunds
Hosts handle all refunds and card disputes directly in their Stripe dashboard at dashboard.stripe.com. GoCall does not mediate payment disputes between hosts and guests. Because the host is the merchant of record, dispute liability and any associated Stripe fees belong to the host's Stripe account.
When a host refunds a guest, GoCall's platform fee on that charge is refunded proportionally. Hosts do not retain the platform fee on refunded amounts.
6. Call Security and Recording
Call links expire automatically. The host sets the expiry when creating a call, and unused links can be set to last from a few hours up to an extended no-expiry window.
GoCall does not record calls. Live audio and video are transported by Daily and are not stored by GoCall. Hosts and guests are responsible for any local recordings they choose to make and for complying with all applicable recording-consent laws.
7. Acceptable Use
Users must comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Hosts are responsible for the content and conduct of their calls. Without limiting the foregoing, you agree not to use GoCall to:
- provide goods or services that are illegal in any jurisdiction where the host or guest is located, or that are restricted businesses under Stripe's policies;
- solicit, deliver, or facilitate fraud, money laundering, sanctions evasion, or terrorism financing;
- provide regulated professional advice, including legal, medical, mental-health, dental, veterinary, financial, tax, accounting, or immigration advice, without holding (and being able to demonstrate to GoCall on request) a valid license, registration, or other authorization to provide that advice in the guest's jurisdiction;
- provide investment advice, securities recommendations, day-trading guidance, cryptocurrency or other digital-asset trading recommendations, or any guidance that constitutes regulated financial advice without the appropriate license in the guest's jurisdiction;
- provide adult services, sexually explicit conduct, escort services, or any sexual content; provide any service involving exploitation, non-consensual conduct, or any conduct involving minors;
- provide services to or directed at minors (under 13, or under 16 in the EEA / UK), or hold yourself out as a service provider for children;
- promote or distribute hate speech, harassment, threats, doxxing, defamation, or content that targets a person or group based on a protected characteristic;
- disclose another person's private information without authorization;
- use the Service as, or in lieu of, an emergency service, suicide-prevention line, crisis line, medical emergency line, or any service where delay or interruption could cause physical harm. GoCall is not a crisis or emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (e.g., 911 in North America, 112 in the EU, 999 in the UK). Hosts must not advertise crisis or emergency support, and guests must not rely on GoCall for it;
- provide gambling, betting, lottery, or escrow services;
- transmit malware, attempt to disrupt the Service, probe for vulnerabilities outside a published responsible-disclosure program, or attempt to gain unauthorized access;
- circumvent rate limits, link-expiry rules, payment authorization holds, or other security mechanisms;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service except as expressly contemplated by host functionality.
Hosts must also comply with all restrictions imposed by the payment processor (Stripe), the call transport provider (Daily), and any other sub-processor identified in the Privacy Policy. Anything prohibited by Stripe's Restricted Businesses list is prohibited on GoCall.
8. Data Retention
Financial records, billing data, transaction records, and settlement details, are retained as required by applicable law. See the Privacy Policy for full data handling.
9. Account Access and Termination
GoCall may suspend or terminate accounts, remove calls, withhold payouts to the extent permitted by Stripe Connect, and report violations to law enforcement or regulators in response to abuse, fraud, illegal activity, payment-risk issues, or violation of these terms, with or without prior notice. Hosts may stop using GoCall at any time, but completed financial records may remain retained as required by law.
10. Warranty Disclaimer and Liability
GoCall is provided as-is and as-available. To the fullest extent allowed by law, GoCall disclaims implied warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. GoCall does not provide legal, tax, financial, medical, therapeutic, or professional advice.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GoCall's total aggregate liability arising out of or related to these terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the platform fees GoCall received from your calls in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
11. Changes to the Service
GoCall may change features, pricing, or policies over time. Material changes will be reflected in the app or these terms before they apply where required by law.
